Midwest Commercial Contractor Supports Pediatric Cancer Families in Minnesota

As a Midwest commercial contractor, Strack Construction believes in building more than structures. This holiday season, Strack once again supported pediatric cancer patients and families at the Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota. The effort reflects a long-standing commitment to community, compassion, and meaningful impact.

Midwest Commercial Contractor Supporting Pediatric Cancer Programs

This year’s initiative focused on supporting families at the Masonic Cancer Center through the Nicholas P. Koenig HERO Foundation. The mission remains clear. Provide hope, comfort, and joy during an incredibly difficult time.

Last week marked the 14th annual Christmas toy donation organized by the foundation. With generous contributions from Strack Construction, subcontractors, family, and friends, more than $18,000 worth of toys and electronics were delivered.

As a result, inpatient families received gifts throughout the holiday season. Many of these items will continue bringing smiles well into the year ahead.

Minnesota Commercial Contractor Building Long-Term Community Partnerships

Strack Construction’s support reflects a trusted and ongoing partnership with the Nicholas P. Koenig HERO Foundation. Year after year, this collaboration continues to grow.

To date, the foundation has donated over $500,000 in program-supporting funds to the hospital. This milestone exists because of a shared commitment to families affected by pediatric cancer.

Additionally, the foundation completed the final $30,000 payment toward its $100,000 pledge to fund the Wagmore Co mobile service dog grooming program through 2029 and beyond.

Because of this commitment, hospital service dogs receive consistent care. These dogs provide daily comfort to patients and families during treatment.

Construction Community Involvement at the Masonic Cancer Center

The Masonic Cancer Center serves families from across Minnesota and the Midwest. Its pediatric unit provides care that extends beyond medical treatment.

Programs like the Wagmore Co mobile grooming service play an important role. Well-groomed service dogs offer calm, familiarity, and emotional relief during long hospital stays.

Meanwhile, holiday toy donations restore moments of normalcy. They create joy. They help families feel supported when it matters most.

Fourteen years ago, Shannon and Erik Koenig spent Christmas at the hospital with their son, Nicholas. Even during treatment and fevers, a bag of presents changed everything. The sparkle in Nicholas’ eyes told the whole story.

Because of this experience, the foundation remains focused on one goal. Shine a light of hope for families affected by pediatric cancer.
